Alys Mendus and I are finally grappling our paper, for The Thirteenth International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, into a shape that fits the time constraints yet does not lose the richness of our discussions, deliberations, negotiations, displacement activities – including breaking my right wrist and not being able to write for a few days.
The fear of rejection, shame, embarrassment over the topic – how, when and why we tell stories to ourselves and others and what we risk in telling stories of an overtly sexual nature in an academic conference is a challenge we are still working with, this is perfect for the panel on Shame that Alys is chairing.
