The week preceding was all busy activity and nervous anxiety of getting ready for filming and then we were there doing it. I found it extraordinarily confronting and exhausting to be in the role of director, without really knowing what that meant.(There is some comfort that I had intuitively fulfilled most of the descriptions of directing I checked out later online!) Telling people what to do, being in control was challenging – possibly why shouting action was so confronting; I rarely managed it say it without it being a question – something the boys teased me about in the pub!. But we did it, got all the shots we had planned in the Glory Woods and with Emilie in the dress. Mary took good care of Griffin, my dad and brother were complete stars.
