I used the same system to decide which sessions to attend as I use in an overwhelmingly large gallery I opt for the ones that pull my attention that my gut responds to. I was not disappointed by Liz Bondi’s session, emotionally upfront and reflexive. The video session in the afternoon had three inspiring and beautiful presentations by Hilary Ramsden, Marion Mangelsdorf and Candice Pamela Boyd after a third session on emotions in fieldwork I felt too full to attend anything else so hung out with the wild women from Woologong University, Australia and felt embraced and recognised as a kindred wild woman!
I did my presentation the following day which was well received, poetic and lyrical were used to describe it.It seems the papers from our session will be developed into a book – Consolation-scapes and possibly an online journal publication, good PhD outputs!
The absent presences and present absences- Haunted bodies session convened by Liz Bondi on Wednesday were really helpful and interesting. people are taking risks, being on edges, exposing emotion and vulnerability within an academic context and that gives me precedents.
